This book is about a boy named Leroy Brown, but most people refer to him as Encyclopedia Brown, because similar to an encyclopedia, Encyclopedia Brown has read more books than anyone around, and can solve most crime cases with a single question. There are several cases Encyclopedia has to solve in this volume, including a robbery in Canada, a haunted house in the neighborhood, and a near hit and run by the local bully. The best part about this series is that it allows the reader to guess how Encyclopedia Brown solves the case, before turning to a page in the back of the book and revealing the answer.
I would highly recommend this series for anyone to read. Though the wording is a bit more simple than other books, the idea that the reader has a chance to solve the mystery along with Encyclopedia Brown is unique, and really allows the reader to use their critical thinking while enjoying a great book.
