This book went into excellent detail about what happens to the various types of trash that people throw away. It explained the difference between non-organic and organic trash, recycling and regular trash, and what landfills are and how they are operated, among other things. The explanation of how landfills are built and operated was fascinating, many people may not know where and how their trash is decomposed, so that was fun to learn about.
I would recommend this book, as it covered a current event going on in today’s world in a gentle manner. Many children may not know anything about trash or even care, but with Greta Thunberg being the center of attention lately, children may take more notice as she is around their age. The author did an excellent job of introducing words, with a short definition at the bottom of the page, and a longer definition in the glossary. The pictures weren’t upsetting but showed an honest look into what happens when trash gets into the ocean. Overall a well written, informative book.
